Ask Octarine

Ask Octarine can now use an agent-style workflow for models that support tools, so it can search, read, inspect, and connect notes before writing an answer.

• Ask Octarine now includes Nomic Embed v1.5 as a higher-quality local retrieval model option alongside MiniLM.
• Ask Octarine now shows a live activity trace while it works, then collapses the trace into a Worked for Ns row after the response finishes.
• Tool-capable models can search notes, read notes, inspect backlinks, browse folders, find tasks, expand wikilinks, list daily notes, and use note outlines when answering.
• Models that do not support tools still use search-based answers, with the same response display and source handling.
• Suggested prompts, wikilinks, note references, response copying, and final-answer streaming have been tightened up.
• Embedding indexing is more deliberate: chat and Related Notes refreshes can trigger indexing, near-empty notes are skipped, and timestamps are normalized for better retrieval updates.

Codex Codex is now available as an AI provider through your local Codex CLI account, without storing tokens in Octarine.

• AI settings now include a Codex account panel that checks your local Codex status, shows the signed-in email and plan when available, and links to setup docs.
• Selecting Codex waits until the CLI account is connected, then chooses an available Codex model automatically.

Improvements

• Related note links and Ask Octarine note references now point more precisely to the relevant note context.
• Hidden dot folders are now respected consistently across quick save, file search, folder moves, inbox detail views, and default folder settings.
• Quick Capture window now allows you to append to the last Inbox entry instead of creating a new one if needed.
• View columns now use live property definitions, so property changes are reflected more reliably.

Fixes

• Fixed IME text duplicating while composing inside lists and tables.
• Fixed nested folder sort inheritance so child folders follow the expected sort behavior.
• Fixed nested collapsed headings leaving the wrong content visible.
• Fixed the editor not returning focus after renaming a note.
