New updates and improvements to Octarine

0.46.1

Inline Writing Assistant for selected text, collapsible calendar, bug fixes.

Inline Writing Assistant

The writing assistant can now work directly on selected text in the editor, so rewrites stay close to the paragraph, list item, or table you are editing.

  • Select text and open the assistant (via CMD/Ctrl + J or via the icon on the Bubble Menu) to describe the rewrite you want without leaving the editor.
  • Use slash commands inside the inline prompt to run saved writing instructions faster.
  • Review AI edits in place, then accept or reject the replacement before moving on.
  • Table selections are handled as complete Markdown tables, making AI edits safer for structured notes.

Improvements

  • The calendar can now be collapsed from the sidebar.
  • A new setting under Settings > Files > Show all file types in tree allows non-markdown files to be visible in the file tree. They aren’t interactive apart from allowing you to reveal them in finder or copy path.
  • Quick Capture can now save title-only captures to Inbox.
  • Duplicating a note now opens the duplicated note in a tab right away.
  • Workspaces now seed default note types when the workspace types file is missing.

Fixes

  • Fixed command-clicking a linked note from an assistant response so it opens correctly in a new tab.
  • Fixed collapsed list and task list state getting out of sync after switching files.
  • Fixed an issue where pressing Enter/Return on empty task items would not exit the task list.

Changes

  • The Attachments button has been relocated from the sidebar to the Global Breadcrumb.
  • The Ask Octarine button is now in the sidebar instead of beside the Search button.
  • The Daily Desk button has been removed from the sidebar.
  • The Writing Assistant button has been moved to the note’s breadcrumb (from the global breadcrumb).
  • The Always show calendar setting has been removed.
