Ask Octarine Write Tools and Floating Chat

Ask Octarine can now do more than answer questions: it can create and update notes, create folders, and move notes or folders inside your workspace. Every workspace change waits for your approval, stays visible in the conversation, and can be undone afterward.

• Review multiple proposed workspace changes together, with an attention indicator on the Ask Octarine button whenever a decision is waiting.
• Undo one or several completed changes directly from the conversation; Octarine reverses grouped changes in the safe order and refuses an undo when the affected file has since changed.
• Attach selected editor text as focused context, and use improved @ mentions that rank matching folders ahead of their contents.
• Bubble menu has a new Add to Chat button that attaches the selected text to the floating/sidebar chat.

Move any conversation between a regular tab, the docked sidebar, and a resizable floating panel, with Octarine remembering the view you last used.

Linking to Headers and Aliases

Wikilinks can now point straight to a heading inside a note, making long notes easier to connect and navigate.

• Type # after a note inside a wikilink to search its headings, or use Tab from note suggestions to choose a heading before inserting the link.
• Wikilinks support aliases and continue to resolve when notes or folders are renamed. Add an alias by pressing | in the suggestions.
• Folder hints beside wikilink suggestions can now be hidden from Settings -> Editor -> Links & References.
• Obsidian-style ![[image]] and ![[video]] embeds now render directly in the editor.

Split panes

• Drag notes, pinned items, Views, templates, calendar notes, and Inbox items onto a pane to see exactly where they will open.
• Dropping onto the left, right, top, or bottom edge creates a split in that direction; dropping in the center opens the item in the existing pane.
• A new Subtle Tabs workspace setting removes pane-tab borders for a quieter layout.

Local data and reliability A lot of the local app data has been moved to a stable sqlite that lives in the AppData directory (same place where the Ask Octarine models live). This helps search be faster for repeated tries, less CPU usage, overall better performance.

Markdown on disk still remains the source of truth, but this helps in other areas of the app; which were previously stored in the browser storage.

Improvements

• Note appearance popover now has a max height and can be scrolled.
• The editor outline stays reliably open while moving the pointer from its trigger into the popover.
• Clicking on templates in the workspace, auto selects the first in the list.
• Inline AI rewrites now let you show or hide the proposed changes while reviewing them.

Changes

• Model Selector only shows models that have tools enabled (newer models). Check if your favourite model supports tools here.
• Follow-up prompt suggestions have been removed.
