Inbox & Quick Capture

Catch it before it disappears.

Capture a thought from anywhere. Let it wait in the Inbox, then decide whether it becomes a note, joins one, or simply gets done.

Triage later

Prioritize, snooze, or finish

Move it forward

Convert or append to a note

Before it needs a folder

Make room for the not-yet-note.

A link, reminder, task, or half-formed idea should be easy to save before you know where it belongs. Inbox keeps those loose ends separate from the notes you have already shaped.

Global shortcut

Write it down without leaving.

Open Quick Capture over whatever you are doing, save the thought, and return to the app behind it without breaking your flow.

Just enough context

Give the fragment a useful signal.

Add an optional title, priority, or tag while the idea is fresh. Or save the body alone and leave every decision for later.

Triage on your time

Not everything needs attention now.

Sort the Inbox, snooze something until it matters, mark it done, or search by title, body, tag, priority, and Inbox number.

When the thought is ready

Give it a permanent place.

An Inbox item can become a normal note, join an existing one, or move into today’s Daily note. The capture stays traceable in Done, so processing it never erases where it came from.

  1. Make it a note

Turn a capture into a full note in the folder you choose when the thought has grown into something worth keeping.

  2. Add it to existing context

Append the body to a note that already owns the idea, then open the destination and keep working there.

  3. Let time be the structure

Send it to today’s Daily note when chronology is all the organization the thought needs.

Find any loose end

Search titles, body text, tags, priority, source details, or a stable Inbox number such as INB-42.

Still ordinary Markdown

Every capture is a local Markdown file with its triage state stored in readable YAML frontmatter.

Desktop and iPhone

Capture on either device and keep the same Inbox workflow traveling with your workspace.

Been using Octarine as my daily driver for the past few days and I'm impressed. Seriously considering jumping from Noteplan.

Oh my god it is perfect! Thank you so much!! I love how it renders the diagram under the definition instead of replacing it, perfect!! You have a user for life!

Started using Octarine a few days ago and it is such a beautiful app. Everything is just right — not too much, not too little.
