Octarine for Teams

Companies can now buy Pro seats for everyone in one go. Seats belong to the company, so they can be reassigned as people come and go.

Learn more about teams here.

To celebrate the launch, anyone whose Pro trial ended more than 30 days ago gets a fresh 7-day trial with every Pro feature unlocked.

Integrations in Ask Octarine

Ask Octarine can now read from the tools your work lives in. Connect a service via MCP once in Settings → Integrations, then pick which sources each conversation can use from the prompt box.

  • Ready-made integrations for Linear, GitHub, and Notion, plus any MCP server that has a URL.
  • Linear issues, GitHub pull requests and issues, and Notion pages show up as clickable lists in answers, with status, labels, assignees, and other details.
  • Type @ to mention a connected integration under Sources, and Ask Octarine uses it for that message.
  • Integration credentials are stored in Octarine's app data, so macOS no longer asks for your keychain password.

Merge Notes

Combine several notes into one, in the order you choose. Select notes in the file tree and choose Merge Notes, or start from the note menu or the command bar.

  • Drag notes to reorder them, or add more notes to the merge before confirming.
  • Merge into the first note in the list to keep its location and properties, or into a new note to leave every original unchanged.
  • After merging, you can open the merged note or delete the notes that were merged into it.

Quick Capture

Quick Capture can now append to any note, not just your Inbox or daily note.

  • Pick a note from the destination menu, and Quick Capture remembers it for that workspace.
  • A new Settings > Quick Capture > Insert as setting adds each capture as a paragraph, bullet, or task when appending to your daily note or a chosen note.
  • Include capture timestamp now applies to both daily note and chosen note appends.
  • The daily destination is now labelled Today's Daily Note.

Performance

  • Switching between notes is faster, especially in long notes with collapsed headings, tags, or media timestamps.
  • Mermaid diagrams now render almost instantly with a much smaller renderer, and they follow your theme without redrawing when it changes.

Improvements

  • The inline writing assistant now has a model picker, so you can choose which model rewrites your text.
  • The floating Ask Octarine window can now be moved left or right.
  • Sync status now sits beside the help icon.
  • In-file search now opens beside the outline button.
  • The compact navigation now shows the Inbox count/dot badge.
  • On macOS, fn + Control + F fills the screen, fn + Control + C centers the window, and fn + F toggles full screen. The Window menu also gets Toggle Full Screen and the standard macOS window and tiling options.
  • The feedback dialog no longer closes when you click outside it, so a draft isn't lost by accident.
  • Theme save errors now explain why the theme couldn't be created or updated.
  • The Ask Octarine @ menu is now ordered Sources, Dates, Workspace, Notes, Folders, then Skills.

Fixes

  • Fixed links not updating when a note was moved, and fixed some link styles (headings, aliases, embeds, relative Markdown links, and different capitalization) being missed when a note or folder was renamed or moved.
  • The theme galleries in Preferences can now be scrolled with a mouse wheel on Windows.
  • Fixed _ inside inline math turning the text between two formulas into italics.
  • Fixed bold or italic text at the start of a line in a blockquote being saved incorrectly.
  • Fixed Tab, Enter, and arrow keys not working in the wikilink suggestion menu inside table cells.
  • Fixed extra spaces around embedded file links.
  • Fixed exported Mermaid diagrams producing broken SVG files and blank PNGs.
  • Fixed some system fonts showing the wrong weight or style, or falling back to another font.
  • Fixed the Inbox Move to and Append to pickers closing as soon as they opened from the context menu on Windows.
  • Fixed the Inbox row being acted on not being highlighted while its picker is open.
  • Fixed Quick Capture showing Choose note… after switching to a workspace without a saved destination; it now falls back to Inbox.
  • Fixed the theme galleries in Preferences jumping back to the selected theme while scrolling.
  • Fixed the sidebar's maximum width not scaling with the zoom level.
  • Fixed custom themes failing to load when the themes file was empty.
  • Fixed editing a note in one split pane making the other pane showing the same note jump its cursor or scroll position.

Changes

  • Ask Octarine no longer attaches the current note automatically. Click Add current note as context above the prompt box to include it.
