Task types for better organization, permanent deletion of tasks, task references, bug fixes.

Task Types

Every task can now have a type, such as Bug, Feature, or anything you’d want. Types are shared across projects and managed in Settings → Tasks → Types.

  • Set a type from task properties, the create dialog, T in the list, board, or details, ⌘K, or the selection bar.
  • Group the list by type, sort by type, or filter with type:bug or type:none.
  • Types show as a pill on list rows and board cards.
  • Rules let a type add labels and set a priority when a task doesn't already have one.
  • The CLI supports types with task types, task type create|update|delete, and --type on create, update, and list.

Deleting Tasks and Projects

Tasks and projects can now be permanently deleted instead of just archiving. Deleting a task removes its subtasks, and deleting a project removes all of its tasks, including archived ones.

  • Delete is in the task menu, the task list's right-click menu, and both project menus.
  • Links to a deleted task show a warning chip explaining that it no longer exists.

Task References

Tasks and notes now show how they link to each other.

  • Task properties include a References section listing the notes a task links to, plus the notes and tasks that mention it.
  • The note sidebar has a Linked Tasks section, and a note's References sheet lists tasks that link to it.
  • Task, view, and project links no longer appear as missing notes.

Improvements

  • Press D in the tasks list or board to set a due date, or use the new Due date button in the selection bar.
  • Task links in notes can show as a short ID or as the full task title, set in Settings → Tasks → General.
  • A new Settings → Tasks → General page lets you turn off comments for a workspace; existing comments are hidden, not deleted.
  • Drag projects in the sidebar to reorder them.
  • Hover a project in the sidebar to see its progress, and use the new projects menu to show progress pies beside each project.
  • Click a search filter chip's key to switch it between include and exclude, or its values to change them from a menu.
  • A project's Issues tab now saves its own search, with Save as view to turn it into a new view.
  • Search tasks with has:comments, has:subtasks, is:parent, and is:subtask.
  • The task search toolbar is tidier, with the list/board toggle moved into Display and reset folded into the save menu.
  • Open the create dialog's property menus with Ctrl (Alt on Windows and Linux) plus M, S, P, B, L, or Y.
  • Images, videos, and files dropped or pasted into a task description are now saved to the workspace.

Fixes

  • Fixed a crash on Windows when extracting a selection into a new note.
  • Fixed the tasks list dimming and becoming read-only while each edit saved, which could also drop quick successive edits.
  • Fixed task search briefly showing the previous tab's filters when switching tabs.
  • Fixed the Display button in the task toolbar not opening.
  • Fixed the label picker not scrolling inside dialogs.
  • Fixed list markers being clipped in the create task dialog.
  • Fixed parent task in a filtered view not showing the context menu on demand.
